Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
